J is for James Blunt and Josh Groban
As I mentioned in my theme-reveal post, this month will be all about music and how it inspires my writing.
Ah, more music from my turbulent teenage years. Though the music transcended that and has stayed with me 😉
James Blunt came to my attention with songs like “You’re Beautiful” and “Goodbye My Lover”. I have many favourites from this artist. Though a lot of people say he can’t sing, boo-hoo, have you heard the lyrics? His songs make it onto all of my various playlists (drafting, rewriting, editing, non-fiction) and onto the playlists I create for my characters.
Josh Groban. That voice! A lot of people got onto the “Grobanite wagon” (fans of Josh call themselves Grobanites) when “You Raise Me Up” came out and then forgot about him. He has a lot of great songs. The music… Just listen to the various instruments in “In Her Eyes” for a feel of drama and emotion (along with the lyrics and the voice). I have his music on my DPOV (deep point of view) writing playlists.
Favourite album: “Awake” Favourite song: “You Are Loved (Don’t Give Up)”
Word of the day: jam session
According to Collins English dictionary: jam session n slang an unrehearsed or improvised jazz or rock performance
Mm… I’ve heard it used for all kinds of music, but whatever. Depending on my mood, I’ll jam with either of these two J’s.
Do you like James Blunt and Josh Groban? Do you have a favourite music group/artist that starts with a “J”?
