K is for Katy Perry and Kelly Clarkson
As I mentioned in my theme-reveal post, this month will be all about music and how it inspires my writing.
I first heard of Kelly Clarkson during a singing lesson (I took singing lessons as a teen at a studio – I think I was rather good). “Breakaway” was the song that made me take notice of Kelly. (It also featured in the second Princess Diaries movie.) “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” is on my “power” playlist – sometimes you just need a boost to get through a bad day.
Favourite album: “Breakaway” Favourite song: “Since U Been Gone” (It was in the first Pitch Perfect movie as an audition song for the various a capella groups.)
Katy Perry came to my attention with “I Kissed a Girl”, of course. Her songs always tell a story – especially if you listen to the songs on an album in succession. “Roar” is on my “power” playlist. A lot of her songs were featured in “Glee”.
Favourite album: “Teenage Dream” Favourite song: “Firework” (It was in the third Madagascar film – the penguins are excellent, as always.)
Both K’s songs appear on my character playlists, DPOV (deep point of view) playlists and drafting playlists.
Word of the day: key
According to Collins English dictionary: key n 5 any of the visible parts of the lever mechanism of a musical keyboard instrument that when depressed set in motion the action that causes the instrument to sound 6 a also called: tonality any of the 24 major and minor diatonic scales considered as a corpus of notes upon which a piece of music draws for its tonal framework b the main tonal centre in an extended composition: a symphony in the key of F major c the tonic of a major or minor scale
I just love this music video!

I like them too. Great video I had not seen that one.
Thanks, Juneta 🙂 It’s one of my favourite music videos from Katy.
Not very familiar with either one. The Killers are a group I really like that begins with K.
That’s an excellent choice for K!
I enjoyed listening to Kelly Clarkson and I know Ketty Perry. The first name that sprung to mind when you asked for a music artist beginning with K was Kris Kristofferson so I’ll go with that instead of overthinking it.
Thanks, Kalpana 🙂
I do have a lot of time for these two K’s!
Thanks for your visit; you’re invited back!

Thanks, Duncan 🙂
They’re good, or popular, but not my go-to.
You’re here, on K day… a chance to mention my favorite band… Kill Hannah.
I have the distinct inability to not crank the volume up when they come on. Ha ha ha.
Maybe Staind will get mentioned when you get to S. We shall see…
Kill Hannah is great — but I have to cater to more than just my rock/metal/punk fandoms (at least, that’s what I told myself when I chose the artists/bands for the A-Z).
Good picks!
Thank you 🙂
I like both of them. They are fun to listen to. Roar was my introduction to Katy Perry.
