Celebrating Irascible Immortals: A Mythic Fantasy Series Reimagined
It’s the first Wednesday of the month and time for another posting of the Insecure Writer’s Support Group.
I’m still at #38 on the list.
A year and a half ago, I introduced the Irascible Immortals to the world. Today, I’m celebrating the series again — although it looks rather different from the one I launched.
As part of rebuilding my business, I’ve been focusing on specific things (I’ll update that next month). For now… I want to share some awesome news with you.
The Irascible Immortals series is now complete!
With that, I mean, that it is available in English and Afrikaans, in ebook, paperback and audiobook formats. And there’s even a complete edition where all the stories are in one book with a couple of extra stories (also available in all the formats above and in both languages mentioned). A novella spanning the entire storyline from a human’s perspective. And a special edition! (All the stories from the complete edition plus a novella from a human’s point of view for all the stories combined.) Oh, and a flash fiction piece just for newsletter subscribers.
Let that sink in. Nine books. In two languages. In three formats. A complete edition with extra stories included. A novella from a human’s perspective. And a special edition with all the shorts and novella. The first nine books in one collection. Books 1-3 in one book. Books 4-6 in one book. Books 7-9 in one book.
If properly taken apart, that means 72 books. (9 x 3 x 2 + 1 x 3 x 2 + 1 x 3 x 2+ 1 x 3 x 2 )
I wrote the books. I translated the books. I narrated the audiobooks. I did the formatting. And I even did a proper launch for the series.
And now I’m celebrating!
For some of my A-Z Challenge folklore posts in April, I’m looking at different folklore characters who made it into my stories in this series, and I’m adding extracts of the books with links at the bottom of each post. There’s a good chance that I’ll reuse these characters in other books (the Morrígan has obviously already made it into other stories).
Sure, you can grumble that these aren’t full-length novels, but market research has shown that there is a whole segment of the reader population who prefer short reads. For those interested, I’ve shared my adventures with audiobooks in previous blogposts.
In February 2025, I asked for help to spread the word about my Irascible Immortals series (which is complete). The response was so positive! I would like to thank my street team again.
