Various Artists #AtoZChallenge

V is for Various Artists (Ed Sheeran, Gotye and Carly Rae Jepsen)

As I mentioned in my theme-reveal post, this month will be all about music and how it inspires my writing.

I could have gone with Van Helsing, but I thought after all the rock and metal groups this month, you could do with a bit of pop music. That’s where various artists come in. Compilations like “Now That’s What I Call Music!”, “U.K. Single Charts” and “Billboard USA Top 40” has introduced me to awesome artists over the years. Most recently: Ed Sheeran, Gotye, and Carly Rae Jepsen.

I got introduced to Ed Sheeran’s music with “Lego House”. Have you seen the hilarious music video? Here’s the link. “Kiss Me” was in “Vampire Diaries” and in “Grey’s Anatomy”. “Perfect” is one of those awesome songs to add to your “writing romance” playlist (where all of his songs are on my playlists).

Carly Rae Jepsen has a lot of excellent songs, but “Call Me Maybe” stays my favourite. Check out the music video below. (Great for writing young adult.)

As for Gotye, “Somebody That I Used To Know” is my favourite (it was also in “Glee”). His songs feature on my DPOV playlist (deep point of view, very emotional stuff).

Word of the day: voice

According to Collins English dictionary: voice n the sound made by the vibrations of the vocal cords, esp. when modified by the resonant effect of the tongue and mouth; the musical sound of a singing voice, with respect to its quality and tone

Do you like Ed Sheeran, Gotye or Carly Rae Jepsen? Do you have a favourite music group/artist
that starts with a “V”?
