Magic at Midnight and Once… Live #BookLaunch @heavensgtvenue

Welcome to the final post about my live book launch on the 1st of June 2019. For previous posts: full speech, diversity speech, princess project speech, and hot button issue speech.

After all the previous stuff, this song played:

Then I did my reading from my book “Magic at Midnight”:

Transcript of speech (book extract!):

The smell of feathers and horse manure didn’t bother Amy anymore. It had when she had just started working at the stables, cleaning them out every day while gagging on the smell the feathered fiends managed to accumulate on a daily basis. But after living with the pegasi for the best part of a decade, she was no longer bothered by her daily chores or the fact she only had the winged horses for company.

Someone yanked on her ponytail. She peeked over her shoulder.

‘Release, Idil. Unless you want me to pull on your tail.’

The abyss black winged horse nickered and flicked her tail at Amy’s head then flapped her wings and sauntered off to play with the other pegasi.

[For the rest, listen to the reading or get the book!]

Here’s a video of the venue that I took before the event started:

The Books:

Damsels in distress, curses, echoes of faery tales and tragic love affairs swirl together in sixteen stories found in a dragon’s lair by a curious half-fae.
Unexpected changes to reality causes more than one damsel to turn into a strong, independent woman who takes charge of her own life.
A collection of short stories about Faerie and the fae that live in the human realm. A few of the stories had won competitions and all of them had enchanted readers.
Learn their secrets and enter the realm of the fae…

Amy has only known one life. Now she needs to put it all on the line to save what is precious to her. Can this simple farm girl survive court-life? Can she stop a war from burning down her world? And what of the mysterious princess of Hazel Wood and her covert glances…? Not to mention the prince of Acacia Wood who might or might not be involved with the prophecies ruling their kingdoms. With mysteries and secrets threatening the life she longs to return to, can she separate her feelings from the mission?

Now for the photos!

What I found interesting is that people would rather buy the Afrikaans edition of my older book than the English edition. And if my newest had been ready in Afrikaans, I’m sure more copies would’ve been sold in that language than in English…

I was even in a local newspaper! One of my readers sent me a photo:

Read online here.

I know, it’s in Afrikaans, but it basically goes on about “Magic at Midnight” and where you can find me online.

Testimonials from those who attended the function:

I might be paraphrasing a bit and I’m only giving you an initial for the guest, but their enthusiasm was palatable. (Yeah, a lot of R’s and A’s attended the evening.)
